Bout of Books 15 Sign Up+ Progress

Bout of Books1Ah, Christmas and the holidays are almost done and I am ready for them to be over with. With 2016 fast approaching I have decided to sign up for some challenges. Who am I kidding, I signed up for a lot of them! With that being said, I decided that I am going help me get a running start on all these challenges by participating in the Bout of Books Read-a-Thon. If you’re like me and need a little push, don’t be shy, stop by and sign up.

For those of you who do not know what Bout of Books is here is the information.

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week-long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 4th and runs through Sunday, January 10th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 15 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team

Now here is my information, hopefully everything goes as planned! I’m also going to be updating my Twitter daily as well (maybe hourly) as well as updating this post with the books I do end up finishing.

Time Devoted to Reading

I start student teaching in January so most of my day time is going to be spent teaching children and not reading. With that being said, I am going to try and read during the afternoons and during the weekend. I am definitely going to need time to destress and reading is just the thing!

My Goals

My goal for Bout of Books is to read a book for each of the challenges that I have decided to enter this year. I personally don’t know which books those are because I am 100% a mood reader. But since I have signed up for 4 challenges, my goal is to read at least 4 books!

MONDAY:

Pages Read: 20 from my first book The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss (for Flights of Fantasy & Rock Your TBR)

Books Finished: 0

General Feelings: Well, I would say that I had an interesting day. I started student teaching today and it was really draining. Honestly, it felt like I got hit with a ton of bricks and the children won’t even be back until Wednesday! So, I ended up reading a little bit from my book and crashing.

Challenge: Bookish Would You Rather?

Would you rather: Lend books to someone who dog-ears pages or to someone who reads with cheesy Cheetos fingers?
Probably lend books to a person that dog ears pages. My husband already does it so I have become numb to this irritation. Having someone eat the orange stain of death while reading one of my books though, no, just no.

Would you rather: Be able to meet one character of your choice or meet one author of your choice?
I think that I’d rather meet the author of my choice, who that is right now I’m not sure. But I feel like there are WAY too many characters from books that I’d like to meet and I’d have a better time arranging which author then picking one character!

Would you rather: Never be allowed in a book store again or never be allowed in a library again?
Never be allowed in a bookstore. Now, you might be wondering why I’d say this but it is easy. I already spend way too much time and money in bookstores and the library is there and you can request books for them to buy. Win win and my wallet thanks all the kind librarians!

Would you rather: Have to choose one of your favorite characters to die in their book or have to pick one of your favorite couples to break up in their book?
Couple to break up. Since meeting my husband and having somewhat of our own fairytale I don’t feel myself being quite so attached to relationships as I used to. There was a time where I had to live vicariously through books for that sort of thing but I don’t anymore. That and I’d rather not kill one of my favorite characters.

Would you rather: Be required to read Twilight once a year for the rest of your life or The Scarlet Letter once a year for the rest of your life?
Scarlet Letter. I detest the book Twilight and I’m not sure I could read a book following Bella’s thoughts, couldn’t get past it the first time.

Now you try it! Here is the link back to the challenge host Writing My Own Fairytale
